• [DIVISION OF ECONOMICS
AND BUSINESS]
Education:
BS, Metallurgical Engineering, Queen’s University at Kingston
MBA, University of Cape Town
PhD, Mineral Economics, Pennsylvania State University Teaching Philosophy:
Studies show that very little learning takes place when the student passively
listens to a lecture. Moreover, retention of these lessons is short-lived. I therefore
supplement my lectures with practical examples and problem sets, allowing students
to learn by doing. I also use case studies and real-world problems as much as
possible, since this is an important step in showing students how economic theory
can help them with real-world business decision-making. Courses Taught:
EBGN311 Microeconomics
EBGN409: Mathematical
Economics
EBGN342/EBGN542: Economic Development
EBGN509 Mathematical Economics
EBGN575: Advanced Mineral Asset Valuation
